this is a term to describe when an animal appears to go into a state of apparent death, but not actually having died, as a defense mechanism. another term for this would be "playing dead." i thought with the context of tsuzuki's history in the hospital, still alive but for all intents and purposes appearing dead, tsuzuki could be described with this word.
